Favorite

We had a wonderful weekend here. The weather was great, we took the day on Saturday to drive down to San Diego to the museum of natural history to learn about pirates! I thought that the museum would have been more interactive for the girls, but Hubby enjoyed it! We strolled around Balboa park, getting the chance to chase bubbles, enjoy street performers , and marvel the koi pond. We were all pretty hungry afterwards, and I was enjoying the break, so rather than cook, we chose to eat out. We chose Famous Dave's, please tell me what it is about men always wanting the feast? It was a nice weekend. I even had the day off today, and got to wrap up this layout. I was inspired by last weeks mood board over at Come on get crafty. I have loved this sweet candid of Little K, could be the amazing print on her outfit, or maybe its the simple, slight smile, or even the ponytails. I was happy to scrap it, and happy how it came together! I hope everyone else had a great weekend, and thanks for peeking at my layouts!

birthday rewind

So, not to be terribly confusing, as I just completed a page of Little L's 8th birthday, I am posting this more recent layout of her 7th birthday; the joys of playing Scrapbooking catch up. I love this photo and how it captured at the perfect time.

I used some American crafts papers that just screamed "make me into a birthday layout". It reminded me amazingly of confetti cake. Speaking of confetti, It seems that I have a current obsession with it lately. I use an old paper punch that punches out border circles, rather that, I love using the little punched out pieces instead. It can always give a matched look of fun on any page! I have also been getting back into hand-stitching on my pages, it's a labor of love, but I always love the result! I stitched around some cut vellum, and am quite happy with the look. Thanks for peeking at what I made today :)

This happened

Look at these strapping lads! This pic was taken at little K's first birthday party (2012) of Daddy and "the godfather"; uncle G! I love looking at old photos of good times and amazing friends. Its hard to build amazing connections when you know that you may never live near some people again, but you learn that the genuine people become family! This was an amazingly fun day filled with great friends one last time before we made the treck across country. A random bit of info about this layout. I have yet to purchase a cameo, as they just started making their rounds as I was taking a break from Scrapping, so in the meantime, I need to use my resources. I knew I wanted to use cutouts in this paper,so I used my exacto knife to cut the hexagons from the paper for THIS layout, leaving these fun, random, floating hexagons to play with on this side! I love showing myself that I can still get fun results to tide me over until I get a cameo!
On a sour note, it has been cruddy and gloomy here in Southern Cali the past few days, So if anyone has sunshine to share, i would love some today to help wake me up. I was up far too late reading last night! Thanks for stopping in !

Wild and free

My middle child, little A, has always seemed to be a free spirit. I will get her all dressed to play outside, put on her shoes, brush her hair; but low and behold, within ten minutes she's barefoot and hair all a mess again. My little hippie!
I knew The glitz collection free and wild was the perfect line for this layout. It perfectly conveys her spirit!I created this layout using this weeks Creative Scrappers sketch! Thanks for peeking!

sick on the homefront!

I have been fighting a cold all weekend, and it is a loosing battle at this point. I am predicting an 8 pm bedtime tonight. When you are under the weather, what better to do than sit on your booty and create. I didn't want to over exert myself, of course. I dug into this months scrapbook circle kit. I love how these kits always challenge me to use product that I wouldn't buy myself, with three girls, I tend to buy a lot of pink products to work with!

Nearly 2 years ago, we got orders from Maryland all the way to Southern California. No way were we going to make that long trip without making some great stops along the way. One of the places we made sure to get to was the Grand Canyon. Now let me start off by saying that I have an extreme fear of heights, even getting high on the ladder can cause my heart to start racing, so this was a big deal for me. It was a gorgeous sight that I will never forget, but I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I will always equally remember the way I lost my breath with fear seeing how low the bottom was. A bit overwhelming ,for sure, but the memories made it worth it. When I finished this layout, and shared with the family, as I always do, My oldest; little L, announced, " I remember this, it was the best day EVER! "I suppose that makes it to have been worth it all!

#8

My big girl was lucky enough to have not one, but two birthday parties. 1 for friends and 1 for family, this past November. She turned 8, where has the time gone?

I had fun using this months Scrapbook circle kit, it always as such amazing products, that I wouldn't necessarily gravitate towards to buy myself. I created this layout by using this months my scraps & more sketch! I have been loving sketch's to get back in my groove. Thanks for peeking!

Fabulous selfies

My girl are "selfie" queens, always stealing our phones and giving us surprise photos. Most of the time they are odd and out of focus, but little K got a few funny ones that I just had to print and scrap! She is always so impressed with seeing her own photos, begging me to take more! Such a ham!
I hope yall are getting through the week okay. We are all stumbling zombies in our home right now. The time change is hitting us hard, hopefully next week will bring more energy.

Good stuff

I can seriously never, not be inspired by an Elle's studio sketch! I seem to have an odd fascination with working with sketch's by first rotating them on their side. Maybe its my way of keeping it fresh and original??? Either way, I was happy with how fun this turned out. I try to get the girls outside often for a quick set of shots to send to family back on the East coast. My neighbor just so happened upon this old chair, and before she tore it up to re-do , I grabbed it for some soft and sweet photos of the girls behind our home! Oh how tortured they look! :)

A Chester pig pile

Getting back into Scrapbooking after a long time gone, and coming back during a time of product release, means you can tend to over buy, or at least, that was my game plan! I stocked up on a lot of the new American Crafts releases. They are just so bright and fun!! Just what I needed to scrap this fun pic of the girls and Chester Blu. He jumped right up into a great big pile of kids and dog, he is quite spunky like that!

How fun is all that, right! I just love this metal heart from a previous scrapbook circle kit! I did a great heap of hand stitching on this layout, truth be told, I was never taught to use a sewing machine, and therefore, am a tad bit afraid of them, so hand stitching it is! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Hubby and I happened to get an amazing surprise when our family came and took the girls for a day out, leaving us id free for the first time in 3 years. What began as panic of how to use this time, turned into a lovely day out with fun, laughter, and great times!

On board the project life train

Being gone for near two years means you miss a lot, I left around the time project life started taking off, I have been spying about them online and on pinterest but wasn't sure that it was something I would enjoy, I can't keep a paper journal to save my life. The longer I looked at others pages, the stronger my interest grew, so I finally broke down and got some pages to fill. Being behind means that catch up can be rough, so I am choosing, rather than weekly pages, to focus on a full month per page for now. This may change with time, but for now it is what feels best! Here is my page for January. I ordered some of the Studio Calico wanderlust monthly  cards. I think they are the perfect starting point for my colors each month! I focused on New Years! It was a fun night with friends.
I  love how perfectly these studio calico papers went excellently together to create the perfect feel of this page!
I also thought to add a fun touch by using my "crafting dictionary" that I picked up to use for art at my local thrift shop. It is just the unique touch the page needed!
And in great fashion, no time spent taking photos of projects in a house full of little girls can be done without the chants of "take my picture mommy!" , I was happy to comply!

MY Happy Girl

Its been a cruddy, rainy weekend where I am, so what better to use that time with but with scrapping matters. I reorganized my tiny little scrap space, found some great videos and inspiration, and participated in our family clean day(what we call Sundays in the Marshall house). Now its Monday morning, back to the daily grind of school mornings, daycare days, hectic nights, and dreaming once again of the approaching weekend! I wanted to share this fun layout I did a bit ago. It showcases a great photo of my sweet little A. How infectious is her smile! I love how she just smiles with her whole face.

Thanks for peeking, and here's hoping for a happy Monday for all!
